The Prague Spring was a period of political liberalization in Czechoslovakia that began on January 5, 1968 and continued until August 21 of the same year when the Soviet Union invaded the country to halt the reforms.

A political protest poster from this time, by an unknown artist, serves as the source material for Fairey's Dis Obey.
